Invitation – Chairman, 2007 World Disabled Water Ski Championships

In May 2007, the Townsville Water Ski Club will be hosting the 8th World Disabled Water Ski Championships. We are honoured with this opportunity to showcase our twin cities and indeed our State to everybody involved with this event. The location of our cities is perfectly positioned for both climate and leisure. The Great Barrier Reef and surrounding islands are a must to see and would be a great escape from the training sessions on the river.

The Thuringowa Riverway Venue is nothing short of being the perfect venue to host this event, with facilities to accommodate every individual. As spectators, athletes and team entourage will see, the Riverway Venue is in an ideal location and presents everybody with a brilliant viewing platform for the World Championships.

Our Local Organising Committee has now secured sponsors for the event, and are well under way to having everything organised for the arrival of our first guests. In order to make this an unforgettable event for both athletes and their supporters, our Technical Sub committee is busy arranging all aspects of the course and venue.

The World Championships presents a brilliant opportunity for our international guests to take full advantage of the perfect weather and hospitality of North Queensland. I encourage all you, to use the time before and after the event to explore our region, and to be our ambassadors when returning back to your home country.
